I am a licensed clinical social worker at Oldwick Associates in Psychotherapy www.oldwickassociates.com .   Since 1986 I have had a general clinical practice providing couples therapy and individual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults.  I work with people suffering with a very broad range of presenting concerns.  These commonly include depression and other mood disturbances, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, interpersonal difficulties, eating disorders and longstanding personality issues.

Professional Training

As an undergraduate I majored in sociology and urban studies.  Though I have always been interested in understanding the problems that we have in a society, my interests shifted to a greater focus on the struggles of the individual.   I decided to pursue a degree in social work.  This allowed me to blend my interest in the  individual and a broader society perspective.   I graduated from Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work in 1980 and entered medical social work at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Piscataway, NJ and then at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ.  After working in Muhlenberg’s kidney dialysis unit for two years, I decided to change my direction and pursue more training and experience in the mental health field.  Toward this end, I became certified by New York School for Psychoanalytic  Psychotherapy and spent the next six years in clinical mental health settings such as Newark Beth Israel inpatient psychiatric unit, Middlesex county's South Amboy office and Warren County Family Guidance center in Washington and Hagedorn Center for Geriatrics in Glen Gardner. This background and training prepared me to help people with a  wide range of problems and who are struggling with complex circumstances.
